Crime Prevention

The Crime Prevention Unit has a variety of programs available to the residents of Edgerton. The goal of the Police Department is to assist the people to better prepare themselves through these prevention and awareness programs, to reduce the risk of becoming a victim and improve their quality of life. Crime Prevention and public awareness are essential tools in reducing the crime rate in our community. Through general knowledge and personal awareness, every individual should have the ability to assist the Police Department in successfully combating crime. The following programs are available to help you, your family, and your community.

  • Confidential Business Security Survey
  • Combat Auto Theft
  • Bicycle Registration
  • Child Safety Programs

HOME SECURITY / BUSINESS SECURITY SURVEYS

Call to have a certified Crime Prevention Officer conduct a FREE CONFIDENTIAL security check of your home or business. Items that will be checked include locks, deadbolts, shrubbery, windows, and lighting. Allow us to help make your home or business a "TOUGH TARGET."

CRIME PREVENTION SEMINARS

Need a speaker for your club or organization? Call and ask a Crime Prevention expert to address your group on all aspects of personal safety and crime prevention. This informative and educational program is well received.

BICYCLE REGISTRATION

Have your child's bicycle registered with the Police Department. The registration information will be kept at the Police Department in case of loss or theft of the bicycle.

CHILD SAFETY PROGRAMS

These programs include Stranger Danger, Bicycle and Helmet safety, Computer Safety, and Department tours.
